Product Description
Polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF) is a white to off-white waxy solid with good solubility in alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
It is generally insoluble in water and aliphatic hydrocarbons. When heated above room temperature, PolyTHF gradually softens and forms a clear, transparent liquid, providing good processability for various polymer and polyurethane applications.
PolyTHF is widely used as a polyether diol and polymer intermediate, particularly in the production of polyurethane elastomers, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), spandex fibers, and other specialty polymers.

Application Scenarios
Polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF) is an important polyether diol and polymer intermediate widely used in the production of polyurethane and other specialty polymers.
Main Applications
Spandex and Elastane Fibers: PolyTHF is a key raw material for producing spandex (elastane) fibers, providing excellent elasticity, flexibility, and recovery properties. It is widely used in textiles, sportswear, and stretch fabrics.
Polyurethane Elastomers: Used as a soft-segment component in polyurethane elastomers, improving flexibility, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, and resilience.
Thermoplastic Elastomers: PolyTHF can be used to produce polyether-ester and other specialty elastomer systems, offering a balance of flexibility, toughness, and durability.
Adhesives and Sealants: Used in polyurethane-based adhesives, sealants, and bonding systems, where flexibility, adhesion, and resistance to chemicals are important.
Coatings: Used as a polyol component in polyurethane coatings, contributing to flexibility, wear resistance, and overall coating durability.
Key Downstream Applications
PolyTHF is primarily consumed in spandex/elastane fibers, polyurethane elastomers, and specialty elastomer materials. Its downstream polyurethane products are valued for their excellent flexibility, resilience, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance, making PolyTHF an important raw material for the textile, automotive, footwear, adhesives, coatings, and specialty polymer industries.
