Product Description
Monoethanolamine (MEA), also known as 2-Aminoethanol or Ethanolamine, has the molecular formula C₂H₇NO and a molecular weight of 61.08 g/mol.
MEA is a colorless to slightly yellow, viscous, hygroscopic liquid with a mild ammonia-like odor. It has a melting point of approximately 10.3°C and a boiling point of approximately 170.8°C.
Monoethanolamine is completely miscible with water, methanol, and acetone and has limited solubility in benzene, ether, and n-pentane.
MEA is a versatile chemical intermediate and functional additive. It is widely used in the production of synthetic resins and rubber, where it can function as a plasticizer, vulcanizing agent, accelerator, or processing aid. It is also an important raw material for the manufacture of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, dyes, surfactants, and other specialty chemicals.
