ABS Resins

Two-Phase Structure – ABS consists of a continuous SAN matrix with a dispersed polybutadiene rubber phase, providing a balanced combination of rigidity and toughness.

Three-Component Composition – Composed of acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene, ABS combines the chemical resistance, impact strength, and processability of its three components.

Excellent Thermoplastic Processability – As a thermoplastic resin, ABS can be efficiently processed through injection molding, extrusion, and other conventional plastic-processing methods.

High Impact Resistance and Toughness – The dispersed rubber phase enhances impact strength and toughness, providing better mechanical performance than many standard thermoplastic resins.

Product Description

Poly(acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene) (ABS) is a widely used two-phase, three-component thermoplastic resin consisting of a continuous poly(styrene-acrylonitrile) (SAN) matrix with a dispersed polybutadiene rubber phase.

ABS is typically supplied as a white to light-colored solid, pellets, or granules with a smooth appearance. As an amorphous thermoplastic, it offers a good balance of impact resistance, rigidity, toughness, dimensional stability, and processability.

ABS is insoluble in water and generally stable under normal conditions. It is soluble or susceptible to swelling in certain organic solvents, depending on the grade and formulation. Its balanced mechanical properties and ease of processing make ABS widely used in automotive components, electrical and electronic housings, appliances, consumer products, pipes, fittings, and injection-molded parts.
