Product Description
Polystyrene (PS) is a widely used thermoplastic polymer known for its lightweight structure, good rigidity, dimensional stability, and ease of processing. Industrial-grade polystyrene typically offers high purity and consistent quality, making it suitable for a wide range of plastic processing and manufacturing applications.
PS is generally a colorless to transparent solid or granulated material with low odor. It has a glass transition temperature of approximately 100°C and softens at elevated temperatures. The polymer does not have a conventional boiling point and decomposes before boiling. Its density is typically around 1.04–1.06 g/cm³, depending on grade and formulation.
Polystyrene is insoluble in water and readily soluble or swellable in several organic solvents, including benzene, toluene, and chloroform. It is generally stable under normal storage and handling conditions but should be kept away from strong oxidizing agents and incompatible chemicals.
Due to its combination of rigidity, transparency, low moisture absorption, and processability, polystyrene is widely used in packaging, disposable products, electrical and electronic components, insulation materials, consumer goods, and various injection- and extrusion-molded products.

Application Scenarios
Food Packaging:Polystyrene sheets and films are widely used to manufacture food containers, tubs, trays, and lids, providing good rigidity, dimensional stability, and ease of thermoforming.
Transparent Packaging:Biaxially oriented polystyrene (BOPS) films can be thermoformed into blister packs, meat trays, container lids, and food packaging for cookies, candies, pastries, and other products where high clarity and transparency are desired.
Thermoformed Packaging Products:Due to its good processability and surface appearance, polystyrene is suitable for a variety of thermoformed packaging applications, particularly where lightweight construction, rigidity, and visual product presentation are important.
