Melamine

Wide Range of Industrial Applications:It is widely used in the manufacture of plastics, laminates, and adhesives, and serves as an important raw material for producing resins and melamine-formaldehyde polymers.

Excellent Stability and Non-Flammability:It offers excellent chemical stability and is non-flammable under normal conditions. It also demonstrates good resistance to strong acids and oxidizing agents.

High Thermal Stability:With a melting point above 300°C, it is well suited for high-temperature applications and processes where excellent thermal stability is required.

Low Water Solubility:Its low solubility in water contributes to its stability and makes it suitable for specific chemical formulations and industrial processes.

Product Description

Melamine is a nitrogen-rich triazine-based heterocyclic organic compound that is primarily used as an industrial chemical and an important raw material in the production of various resins and chemical products.

It typically appears as a white, odorless crystalline solid at room temperature. Melamine has limited solubility in water, with a solubility of approximately 3.1 g/L at room temperature, but it is readily soluble in formaldehyde and can also dissolve in hot ethylene glycol, glycerol, acetic acid, and pyridine.

Due to its chemical properties, melamine is widely used in the manufacture of melamine-formaldehyde resins, laminates, adhesives, coatings, and other industrial materials.

Melamine is insoluble in acetone and ether and may pose health risks if improperly handled or consumed. Therefore, it is not suitable for use in food processing or as a food additive.

In the past, there have been documented cases in which melamine was illegally added to dairy products to artificially increase the apparent nitrogen content during protein testing. This practice can result in serious food safety risks and is strictly prohibited.
